Chris Christie Weight Loss – A Closer Look Over the Years

Chris Christie Weight Loss – Is He Serious?

Chris Christie, the Governor of New Jersey, is often the subject of weight loss gossip. With his big and elevated waistline, it is hard to ignore his weight. Christie once told New York Post that he wanted to reduce his weight for the sake of his family, especially when he was turning age 50.

Christie said “I’ve struggled with this issue for 20 years. For me, this is about turning 50 and looking at my children and wanting to be there for them.”

But 20 years is a long time. Did he really look slim 20 years ago? Let’s check it out and see how Chris Christie changed over the years.

Who is Chris Christie?

Born in Newark, New Jersey, to Sondra A and Wilbur James Christie, Christie showed early leadership qualities. During his high school days, Chris Christie served as class president and was a pretty good catcher for Livingston High School baseball team.

Chris Christie Remained Slim during the 1980s

Chris Christie started his political ambitions at a young age. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Delaware in 1984. Christie married his university sweetheart, Mary Pat Foster, in 1986. From his wedding photo, you can see that Christie was in pretty good shape then:

Chris Christie Started to Gain Weight in the 90s and 2000s

Some say the sign of a successful man is in the growth of his waistline. Though not entirely true, Chris Christie got fatter as he gained more popular. His weight ballooned in the 90s.

In the photo below taken in 1997, Chris Christie was speaking as the Morris County Freeholder Director. His waistline was “raised” higher due to his bulging belly. Check it out:

Six years later in 2003, Chris Christie was seen speaking to the media as the U.S Attorney. You can see from the photo below that there was no stopping his weight gain. Despite wearing a jacket, you could tell he was really fat underneath…

By 2009, Chris Christie has grown considerably. By this time, many observers have given up hope that Christie will reduce his weight. Below is a photo showing Chris Christie leaving the Summit Diner in New Jersey. His clever use of a fitting jacket made him look slimmer. Check it out:

Three years later, nothing changed. Chris Christie’s weight continued to balloon. His waistline got a “promotion” up his body. To hide his big tummy, or rather, to hold his pants up, he had to bind his belt at a higher position. It was a really ugly sight. Sad to say, Chris Christie continued to look this way for years.

A year later in 2013, it was rumoured that Chris Christie underwent a gastric band procedure to lose weight. The effort to close off a section of his stomach did not yield visible effect. Below is a photo taken in 2013. Do you see any difference in his weight?

Here is another photo of Chris Christie taken in August 2013. He was pictured throwing out a ceremonial first pitch before the start of the Little League World Series Championship game in Pennsylvania:

In 2014, Chris Christie looked slightly slimmer. Nobody knew what he did. But his photos in 2014 showed that he took great effort to cut down his weight. The photo below shows Chris Christie waving to supporters. He was campaigning for Wisconsin’s Governor Scott Walker’s re-election:

Chris Christie continued to lose weight well into 2015. His waistline reduced considerably in 2015. The photo below shows Christie actually looking great in a blue polo tee! He was pictured attending the Allen & Company Sun Valley Conference in Sun Valley, Idaho. He really looked better with a smaller waistline:

In 2016, though there were rumours that Chris Christie paid extra attention to his weight issues, there was no apparent change in his weight.

Chris Christie was candid about his weight. He told New York Post that his weight was a problem for him all along. Christie said “I’ve struggled with this issue for 20 years,” he told the paper. “For me, this is about turning 50 and looking at my children and wanting to be there for them.”

He admitted to undergoing surgery to control his weight. The procedure was done on Feb 16 2016 and it lasted for 40 minutes. Here is a photo of Christie in 2016:

In 2017, Chris Christie’s weight is still on the high side. In the photo below, Chris Christie was pictured looking on as President Donald Trump signed the House Joint Resolution 41. Christie really looked unhealthy. Check it out:

Overall, Chris Christie should really watch his weight. As the saying goes, if someone cannot take care of his own weight, how can he take good care of his country?

A person’s weight is a reflection of his or her own responsibility. It does not pay to be a glutton as diseases are sure to follow. We hope that Chris Christie will seriously give weight loss a thought. Get the weight out of the way, Chris Christie. What do you think of Chris Christie’s weight loss efforts?
