Did Jane Fonda Undergo Plastic Surgery?
Jane Fonda is one of the most recognised exercise gurus in the entertainment industry. Jane is not one who shy away from her plastic surgeries. She has openly discussed about the plastic surgeries done on her eyes, chin and neck.
She once told Entertainment Tonight “I recently had plastic surgery. It was a hard decision to make, and I decided if I’m going to do it, I’m going to tell the truth. I’m writing a book about aging, so I can’t write that book and not say I’ve had plastic surgery. And you know, I just decided it was for me — I don’t want to have bags under my eyes that make me look tired, and so forth and so on.”
“I have, in my life, been obsessive about exercise, about most everything,” Jane Fonda said. “But one of the good things that happens when you get older is everything comes into perspective. I don’t want to get hurt.”
As an exercise guru for most of her life, Jane dealt with bulimia with controlled exercises like walking hills, lifting weights and swimming.
Now at age 77, Janes Fonda does not look her age. Perhaps its her positive attitude on life that helps. We have seen celebrities undergoing plastic surgery and looking worse than before. But not Jane Fonda.
Let’s check out how Jane Fonda has changed over the years:
Jane Fonda took an interest in acting in 1954. Her interest grew after appearing in The Country Girl, at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Here is a shot taken in 1955. She looked beautiful and her smile could melt the hearts of many men. Notice her slightly bulbous nose tip.
In 1958, Jane Fonda was talent spotted by Lee Strasberg who told her she had “Real Talent”. That was the turning point in her life. Fonda said “I went to the Actors Studio and Lee Strasberg told me I had talent. Real talent. It was the first time that anyone, except my father — who had to say so — told me I was good. At anything. It was a turning point in my life. I went to bed thinking about acting. I woke up thinking about acting. It was like the roof had come off my life!”
Here is a shot taken in 1959. Notice her wavy and slightly curled hair. Her hairstyle was all the rage then. Her impeccable set of teeth with her perfect lips were irresistible. Fonda described her eyebrows as “eagle’s wings”. What do you think?
During the 1950s, Jane Fonda focused mainly on stage performances. In the 1960s, Fonda made huge progress in her film career. Her first film in 1960 was Tall Story where she played a college cheerleader.
Here is a shot taken in 1960. Notice how elegant she looked in the photo. Her dark eye brows were gone. There were zero signs of plastic surgery.
In 1962, Jane Fonda won a Golden Globe for her performance in Walk on the Wild Side. She played the role of a prostitute and won many fans for her performance.
Here is a photo taken in 1962, check out her puffy hairdo. Her eye bags were starting to show.
After her appearance in Sunday in New York, Jane Fonda attracted polarising opinions on her performance. Newsday called her “the loveliest and most gifted of all our new young actresses”. On the other hand, the Harvard Lampoon named her the “Year’s Worst Actress” for The Chapman Report.
So who was right? It did not matter to Jane Fonda. She continued her acting streak in films, averaging about two movies a year. Here is a shot taken in 1963. Notice her slight weight gain. Her face, for the first time, appeared slightly rounded.
In 1965, Jane Fonda acted in the film Cat Ballou. The film had 5 Oscar Nominations and was considered as Jane Fonda’s defining moment. After the success of the film, Jane Fonda was considered a top drawing actress in the industry.
In the photo below taken in 1966, Jane Fonda showed off her seductive look. And her eye makeup was superb.
Here is a mugshot taken in 1970 where Jane Fonda was mistaken arrested for drug smuggling. She did not carry any drugs. What she had with her were just vitamins. You can see her natural beauty shining through despite the photo being a mugshot. Did she trim her eyebrows before the shot?
After that mugshot, Jane Fonda kept the same hairstyle. She deviated from her popular blond locks for a short cropped hairstyle. In the photo below (taken in 1971), she displayed a more rugged side of her. She exuded both feminine and boyish charm. The picture showed that she was still a master at eye makeup. Just beautiful without any plastic surgery.
In 1971, Jane Fonda added more acting awards to her collection. Her natural charisma and beauty was breathtaking on screen. For the film Klute, Fonda won the Best Actress Award in the Oscars as well as the Golden Globe.
After 1971, Jane Fonda did not have much box office success till 1978. Her significant milestone during this time was her marriage to Tom Hayden in 1973. The marriage was to last for almost 17 years.
Check out the photo below taken in 1976. Did marriage make Jane Fonda more youthful? She was starting to have fans believe she looked splendid in short or long hair.
Here is one photo of Jane Fonda back in 1979, after winning the Academy Award for Best Actress in the film Coming Home. Her jawline looked really chiseled in this photo. Did she attempt any plastic surgery?
In the Eighties was when Jane Fonda turned Mid-40s of age. The first signs of aging show up after age 40. When you look at the Jane Fonda Photo below (taken in 1982), you can see multiple crows feet and fine lines on her face. She still looked beautiful. But those fine lines were slowly creeping in.
Guess what? By 1984, Jane Fonda’s fine lines decided to take a vacation. In the photo below taken in 1984, her face was void of fine lines. Could it be the result of a facelift, eyelid surgery or botox? Just compare and see for yourself.
By 1990, 8 years after the picture taken in 1984, Jane Fonda’s face started to show those fine lines again. However, she still looked younger than her age of 53. She represented what a mature beauty should look like. Check this out:
Three years later in 1993, Jane Fonda looked older than three years ago. Did she forget her routine facelifts or facial fillers? Her neck lines were showing too. Her photo showed that a neck lift and a facelift were long overdue.
In 2001, Jane Fonda pulled off another amazing “turn back the clock” appearance. Her face looked radiant, with fewer fine lines.
Looked like Jane Fonda found the elixir of youth. Despite the photos being taken 8 years apart, her appearance in 2001 looked younger.
Jane Fonda took a long break from acting. She returned to the limelight in 2005, starring in the movie Monster In Law. She looked no older despite turning 68. Here is a photo taken in 2005 during the premiere of the movie:
From then on, Jane Fonda maintained her looks extremely well. Here is a sequence of photos from 2010 to 2017. Other than her hairstyle and a slight weight gain in 2010, Jane Fonda has remained youthful and beautiful.
She was so good with her plastic surgeries that its hard to pinpoint her areas of surgical correction. Any suggestions? Anyone?
Jane Fonda’s Positive Attitude Keeps her Young
Lately in 2015, Jane Fonda was interviewed by The Guardian and she said “I’m 77 but I’m very youthful. I have passion. I have curiosity. I’ve always had a lot of energy. I have a fake hip, knee, thumb; more metal in me than a bionic woman, but I can still do Pilates.”
That sentence sums up why many of her fans support her. An everlasting zest for life and fitness. Jane Fonda’s statements says that plastic surgery is not the end of things. Plastic surgery should spur anyone on for doing things better in their lives.
And Jane Fonda has the track record to show it. Jane left her mark in Oscars and she made an early retirement in the early 1990s. Then she made a slight comeback in 2005 with the Jennifer Lopez comedy Monster-In-Law. Jane is presently cast in the Netflix series Grace and Frankie. Jane admits that television series are more suitable for older women because movies are more expensive to make. Thus, movies are less likely to take risks by casting older women and bombing at the box office.
Jane Fonda Is Honest About Plastic Surgery
We appreciate Jane Fonda’s honesty in admitting her plastic surgeries. In fact, she addressed her plastic surgeries again recently “I did have plastic surgery. I’m not proud of the fact that I’ve had it. But I grew up so defined by my looks. I was taught to think that if I wanted to be loved, I had to be thin and pretty. That leads to a lot of trouble.”
Watch the Beautiful Jane Fonda in an interview with Barbara Walters in 2006:
Compare that to a recent interview with Jane Fonda. You can see that she has not aged much:
Jane Fonda Rumored Plastic Surgeries
Though Jane Fonda admitted to her plastic surgeries, she was not specific about the exact procedures. But many suspected that she underwent a facelift in her early 40s and another in 2010. Many also believed that Jane Fonda has undergone a breast augmentation surgery. Jane Fonda also took the effort perhaps to remove the eye bags to prevent looking old.
Why Jane Fonda Still Looks Natural
Based on her before and after photos, Jane Fonda still looks natural despite her confession of her plastic surgeries. This is because Jane Fonda tries not to go overboard with the plastic surgery procedures. Perhaps she instructed the doctors to retain some of the lines on her face. This reduced the possibility of looking plasticky and artificial. Some victims of facial fillers overdose include Kim Novak and Lee Grant.
Jane Fonda is a Good Example For other celebrities
Jane is one of the rare celebrities who owned up to her plastic surgeries. It reflects her honesty and integrity. She is unlike many celebrities who suddenly appeared with enhanced boobs and denied undergoing any cosmetic procedures.
Further to that, Jane Fonda has practised good taste in her plastic surgeries. Ensuring her plastic surgeon is one of the key to her still looking fabulous and natural at the same time at age 77.
And her exercise regimen has certainly contributed to her looking at least 10 years younger than her age.
